Trademark er i princippet det samme som [[Copyright]]. Det vil sige at alle firmaer har et varemærke eller et logo de kan placere på deres produkt, ligesom webudviklere placerer deres logo eller skriver copyright på deres side.<br /> Trademark blivet brugt til at definere eller fortælle hvor et produkt kommer fra. Et eksempel på dette fænomen er Apple. De placerer deres meget karakteristiske æble på samtlige produkter. Man kan gennem trademarket se hvor de kommer fra, og at de hører sammen. Da et firmas trademark er meget centralt, så bliver der taget patent på det.
